Windows Against Windows Phone

Just realised what prevents me from developing for Windows Phone: It's is Windows. Controversial, but let me explain:
  • Many smartphone developers, including myself, have made the plunge years ago, and invested in Apple kit. This was needed to target iOS devices
  • In a way, it was a cheap investment, too, as Macs are also very good for Android work
  • So here I am now, without a PC
  • Supporting Windows Phone would be a significant investment for the individual coder, or even small shops. A good Wintel laptop is still in the 1000$ range, not to mention the time needed to get really productive in the new environment
Nice paradox, isn't it? Windows being the largest obstacle of the Windows Phone ecosystem.
